I realized I’ve written about this subject of maintenance and mental health quite a bit. I wanted to make it easy for you if you wanted to ponder the “how” to achieve this goal.
Recognize that this industry, cinema — and any creative field —is a marathon. It doesn’t all happen at once. You build step by step. It helps to examine those steps:
Remember the real goals of why you entered this field:
“Everyone wants to be a builder, but no one wants to do the maintenance.” It needs to be part of your creative practice and job description.
I find it helps to look at our industry and see the barriers and challenges. It isn’t you that any of the crap is directed towards. Our fractured industry is due to our fractured selves. Until all are healed (i.e never) we will have to learn to survive with this type of crap:
Fortunately, we can change how we look at things:
And don’t let it get you down. It is not about how you ride, but how you climb back onto the horse:
We can embrace the folly of our ways:
And work to develop a thicker skin, even when vulnerability is a gift.
There are tactics to deploy when others don’t agree with you:

And accept loss as part of the process:
