Great list! I would add something like - travel and try to live as locals do (i.e. not like a tourist) in another country, even if only for a week or two. Feeling like an “outsider” and learning to adapt to a new place / way of life is great life experience, and being adaptable is key in this creative business. It can help you get unstuck in many ways!
What an incredible list to start the new year off!
Number 68 in particular resonates. "Recognize it does not usually need to be an either/or scenario, or a binary choice; it is likely to have a both/and blend." Put another way, two (or three or four) things can be true or right at the same time.
Enjoy living in the complex and difficult – why else would any of us work in indie film :)
I'd add, "Be open to creative partners from all walks of life, places, and occupations. I've learned the most from folks I didn't expect to become close with at the outset (whether because of age, location, etc.). Variety is the spice, as they say."
Excited to read it many, many more times in the weeks / months ahead.
Happy New Year!
