can you tell me where the safe landing is these days?

Is it obsessive? Compulsive? Or just love? Oh, these are the questions we must ask.

Or at least I do. I meant to publish this post at the top of the week. Actually even earlier than that; I had to remove some links because they had already grown stale. I could start publishing more than a post a day. As it is I make sure I never write during working hours. Waking hours, too.

Anyway, for those of you fearful of launching a newsletter because you won’t have enough to say or share, in my experience, it is the opposite you should worry about it. The longer I have maintained the newsletter, the more I can find to publish. So today lands on a Saturday when I could have sent it on Monday. So be it.

This is HopeForFilm’s The5 — my collection of non-Substack links that should help you ponder and wonder. They are meant to inspire, provoke, spark, and support the non-dependent creative generators. Is that you? Yes, The5 is cinema-centric, but much will be applicable to other fields. The5 is a gift to all those that choose to support HFF through the premium paid subscription.

Did you know if you just wanted to receive The5 and TRU (The Round Up of a similar sort from the Substack garden that is FREE for all subscribers), you could subscribe just to that? Or if you wanted to get everything HopeForFilm has to offer — except those —you can turn OFF the subscription for those. The same goes for HopefulConversations, my discussions with filmmakers and executives. Yes that’s true. But first you have to subscribe for something.

HFF’s The5: 04.12.25 Edition

  1. Want to know what exhibitors are thinking?

  2. Want to start your own streaming platform?

  3. Want to know what you missed at CPH:Dox?

  4. Want to read about the life you’ve chosen?

  5. Want to recognize how little it changes? Or at least how little I do?

HopeForFilm’s The Five is a gathering of links and ponders picked from this garden of information we call our daily life, that I find particularly relevant to those who create and aspire to a culture where we don’t have to depend on the large corporate powers to tell us what they want and think will work for their business plans. Thank you.
