You are not the brand. But you ARE the story.
Within FilmStack, there is NonDē. Within NonDē , there are manymanymany revolutions. As small as some may be, they are now changing our world rapidly, whether you recognize it or not.
Want to know what’s really happening here, Mister Jones?
Frankly, there is so much, I don’t even know where to begin. But I have an itch and I’m going to scratch it. So there. That’s just the kind of guy I am.
But know what? The choices are so many, I can just throw a dart. What pops? Let’s look inside the balloon. Don’t be the one I pin the tail on now!
I see the iris of each and every flower. I see many constellations in the night sky. To get anything done, we need so many points of connection. This — the thing right here and now — happens partially because that happened so far away on some different day with who knows who. But you know that feeling that is like how the mushrooms are one big giant single organism? Or how the trees keep the old stumps alive? We are that way and so are the things that we are now doing. Circles within circles. Pieces of a far greater whole.
Let’s look at one.
Many filmmakers have already climbed aboard the 1FaaT movement. If that’s not you, don’t get left behind.
No more “one film at a time”, friend. Get on this horse, and ride baby ride. Here are 20 Reasons Why You Need To Abandon The One Film At A Time Bad Thinking:
But that’s not why I am writing to you today. I want you to recognize that you are part of something far bigger than yourself. Look around you. The 1FaaT movement that is happening within the NonDē movement, which in turn is happening within the FilmStack community (and beyond), and that is an example of a larger phenomenon.
There are so many wide awake souls who already recognize that the corporate system wants you to to only make (or buy) products. Products. Those things that stand on their own. A thing that is separate from what comes next. Or came before. Or that she, he, they did before you did. Or was it after? A product is the means by which they most efficiently extract value. They don’t feel the need to contribute, to add value to a product.
Customers have been trained to not place blame or instill shame when the manufacturer just takes value. But maybe it should not be that way. Maybe we can actually build a better system. Don’t we deserve a better system? Well, it is being built, one realization at a time. This is just one of the stories within the story.
All us NonDē — as well as all the artist/entrepreneurs out there — recognize that our work is not product generation. We won’t reduce it to that. We won’t just do what they want us to. We won’t just let them extract value. Our work is process maintenance. It is both an ongoing and evergreen thing we are doing with this writing, this filmmaking, this community . This extends beyond 1FaaT, but 1Faat is a realization and a significant step forward.
